Empowering Young Innovators Through Technology 

We recently had the incredible opportunity to welcome 50 bright scholars from the Academy of Warren for an immersive S.T.E.A.M Field Trip Experience, a full day designed to ignite curiosity, creativity, and confidence through hands-on learning. 

For quite some time now, CODE313 has partnered with Academy of Warren through after-school programming, helping students explore technology in fun, meaningful ways. This time, we invited them to take their learning to the next level, right here in our innovation space. 

Coding Meets Creativity: Game Development in Action 

Half of the scholars stepped into Classroom 1, where they dove headfirst into game development using Microsoft MakeCode Arcade. Guided by our instructors, students learned to build their own playable games from scratch, coding characters, designing levels, and bringing their ideas to life on screen. 

As the room filled with energy and collaboration, scholars began to see coding not just as lines of logic but as a tool for storytelling and creative expression. For many, this was their first introduction to programming, and it was inspiring to watch their confidence grow with each new challenge they conquered.

Exploring the Future: Augmented Reality & Digital Design 

Meanwhile, in Classroom 2, the other group explored the world of Augmented Reality (AR), a technology that bridges the digital and physical worlds. Using beginner-friendly design tools, scholars created their own interactive face filters, similar to what they see on social media. 

They combined imagination and technology to craft fun, expressive filters, all while learning how AR is reshaping industries from entertainment to education. By the end of the session, their excitement was undeniable. Proof that hands-on experiences truly spark lasting interest. 

Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators 

Our S.T.E.A.M Field Trip Experiences are built around one goal: to spark curiosity and inspire possibility. Watching these scholars light up as they coded their first games and designed their first AR projects reminded us why we do what we do. 

Exposure to technology at a young age broadens horizons and helps students see themselves as future creators, developers, and innovators. Knowing we’re helping spark that very interest, that moment of “I can do this”,  is what fuels our mission at CODE313 every day.
