Learning in Motion: A High-Energy Tech Takeover That Sparked New Futures

CODE313 brought the energy, innovation, and hands-on excitement to Breithaupt Career & Technical Center with a full S.T.E.A.M. SLAM School Tour takeover, transforming their gym into a pop-up tech playground for an entire day of immersive exploration.

More than 150 students cycled through a series of interactive experiences designed to introduce them to the endless possibilities within the world of technology. From virtual reality adventures to drone simulation challenges, the day was packed with learning, discovery, and unforgettable “aha” moments.

A Gym Turned Innovation Arena

For this stop on our S.T.E.A.M. SLAM tour, we set up multiple stations that allowed students to jump in, explore, compete, and create. The gym quickly filled with curiosity and excitement as scholars moved from experience to experience, each one offering a different window into tech careers and the skills behind them.

Hands-On Tech Experiences That Bring Learning to Life

Students had the chance to rotate through CODE313’s most engaging and in-demand demonstrations:

  • Virtual Reality (VR):
Immersive simulations that transported students into digital worlds, sparking conversations about gaming, engineering, and careers in extended reality.

  • Augmented Reality (AR):
Interactive tools that let students experience how digital design overlays onto the real world a perfect introduction to digital media, creative tech, and UX design.

  • Drone Flight Simulation:
A fan-favorite station where students practiced maneuvering drones through virtual environments, highlighting pathways in aviation, robotics, and emergency response tech.

  • Blaze Pods Reaction Training:
High-energy reaction challenges that merged physical movement with real-time technology, giving students a glimpse into sports tech, data measurement, and human performance engineering.

  • Box Stacking Competition:
A fast-paced, teamwork-focused challenge that blended creativity, problem-solving, and light physics… with a competitive twist that had the whole gym cheering.

Throughout the day, students asked questions, tested their skills, and pushed themselves out of their comfort zones. Their excitement filled the room, a powerful reminder of how exposure to tech can unlock new passions and possibilities.

Sparking Curiosity That Lasts Beyond the Event

One of the most encouraging moments was hearing students ask:

“How do I get into a career like this?”

“What do I need to study to work with this technology?”

Those questions tell us everything. They show that students weren’t just entertained, they were inspired.

And that’s exactly the mission of the S.T.E.A.M. SLAM School Tour:

Providing equitable access to S.T.E.A.M.Education, showing students what’s possible, helping them envision themselves in the tech world, and lighting a spark that can turn into a lifelong pursuit.

Looking Ahead

We’re grateful to Breithaupt Career & Technical Center for welcoming CODE313 into their school and giving their students the chance to experience this high-impact tech activation. Days like this are proof that when you combine exposure, energy, and hands-on learning, students walk away seeing new versions of themselves.

We can’t wait for the next stop on the S.T.E.A.M. SLAM tour and for the next wave of scholars whose futures will be shaped by these moments of discovery.
