This week on Let's Talk About It Tuesdays, CODE313 is bringing knowledge and insight to our blog readers on the various topics of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math! This week's blog is centered around the art of Ballet and one influential leader. So without further ado, let's talk about it.
Dance is a phenomena that one uses to express themselves or an idea using one’s physical body. Dance has been around for millennials and has been formed into many different styles including African, Traditional, Celebratory, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Ballet, etc. All of these styles of dance have been represented by many great dancers and storytellers. For example, lets discuss how Misty Copeland has made an impact on Ballet and how it has made an impact on her.
Misty Copeland, ballet dancer and author, began her chase for ballet when she was only 13 years of age. Copeland dances for American Ballet Theatre, which is one of the three leading classical ballet companies in America. Along her dance journey, she’s been well recognized for her incredible talent by many schools and companies and now all over the world! Misty became the very first African American female dancer to be promoted to the ABT’s principal dancer throughout their 75 year existence.
There’s no doubt that Misty has put in the dedication to be well renowned in what she does. She’s not only a dancer, author, and game changer, but she also commits herself to give back to young boys and girls who need mentorship.
